FELTING

One of the visitors to the Manor Craft Festival took away some dyed fleece to make some motifs back home in Hastings.

And just look what arrived in the post! A simply beautiful peacock butterfly...

felted poppies

... and I don't know who made these poppies...

...or these blue flowers, but I do know that Katy felted the fantastic badger. I've pinned all the motifs onto a piece of felt so that we can display what we have so far whenever we are at an event..
Thank you EVERYONE.
Meanwhile, back in August at our Craft Festival...

Jane and Katy brought out the prepared fleece first thing, as the rest of the Festival took shape all around.

Meanwhile, Jane, Katy and Bill rolled the fleece around the log and were adding the recycled bamboo blinds.

Jane, Katy and Bill got the fleece covered in tarpaulin and tied it securely in place just in time for Buddy's return.

And here it is - Mary managed to combine carriage rides AND felting fleece around a log.

end of a long day for Buddy

Halfway through the afternoon, the felting team unrolled the fleece, and turned it and sent it on its way again. But all too soon it was time to stop...

time to unroll

...and unroll the log to see the results.

the felted panel
space
It felted pretty well but not as well as the test sample we did last month. The tree looks a bit odd without its leaves but they - and all the other motifs - will be stitched on later.

Jane felted the fleece more over the week and thoroughly washed it then brought it up to the Spinning Group for us all to have an admiring look.

FELTED SAMPLES
Here are MORE donations for the yurt felting all the way from Hastings - chalkhill and holly blue butterflies and a huge sunflower.
And apparently the green leaves were originally from Nepal.

Thank you, thank you, all gratefully received.
